Up Pilatus

Well, I never sent an email with pictures of our last outing in Switzerland, so here they are. The weekend before we left, our neighbors convinced us to stop packing and enjoy one last fling. We all drove to Luzern and took the cable cars up to the top of Pilatus I am SO glad we went! We had such a good time with the Barlows and they views from the top were just amazing. So here are the kids looking down the mountain on the way up in the cable car and then here is the Barlow family. We miss you guys!

Up at the top there are a couple hotels and several hiking trails. Just behind where the Barlows are in the picture there were a few paragliders taking off. It was crazy! They just run and jump off almost a cliff and the wind picks them up. Pretty cool to watch. There was also an alp horn player up there. Here he is and then here is a side shot of one of the cable cars coming up.

We took a short hike around the peak and read signs all along the way that tell about the history of the mountain and Lake Luzern below. It was really interesting. There was this little chapel under the peak that I'm not quite sure how people would get to it. There must be some trails, but there is no way a car could get there. So crazy! The other picture is one of the views from the top. It was breathtaking. Pictures just don't do it justice. You can see a lake down at the base of a couple of the mountains.

We stopped at one of the stations on the way down and went on the longest alpine slide in Switzerland. It was SOOOOO fun! Here is Joe and Will at the top and then there is a shot of it down the hill. 1350 meters long. It was such a good time! You should try it. Seriously.

Here we are with the beautiful view behind us. Ah, I'm a little homesick. What an amazing year we had there. Too bad my kids won't remember it! That's what pictures are for, right?

I am so glad you guys came too! Things are pretty different here without you guys. You definately are missed. Sam's prayer the other day..."bless that Mommy and Alysia will still be best friends...bless that Me and Kenz will still be best friends...bless that Will and Mia will still be best friends... and bless that Daddy and Joe will still be best friends." Thank goodness for children and their pure hearts.
