Today marks the one year mark from the day we flew home from Switzerland. Last night I sat at the computer and looked at tons of pictures from our time there and got emotional. Who knew I could get so attached to a place from living there for just a year? Some of my friends have recently posted some of the more annoying things about living there, which I absolutely related to and made me laugh, but I'm going to make a list of things I miss, just because I am feeling nostalgic.1. Polite drivers. People, although they drove fast, were very courteous of others and always stop if they see a pedestrian waiting to cross the road at a crosswalk. Driving was only scary when we crossed into Italy.
2. Everything was SO clean. Public restrooms were not to be feared there. People trimmed the weeds along the roads for heck's sake.
3. People were environmentally conscious there. Everyone recycles almost everything and they all seem to really care for the land they live on.
4. The food. Especially Da Pino pizza and the delicious pastry in the cafe at the Zurich train station, even the little kebab stands. Yummy! And of course, how could I forget the chocolate?
5. The shopping. There were so many fun stores and neat things to buy or just to look at window shopping. I still want to go back and get a really nice Nativity set. One day...
6. The history. Every where I went, even though it was modern, it felt like living hundreds of years ago. When you drive around a corner and see an ancient chapel, you can't help but feel like you've traveled back in time. This was one of my favorite things about living there. It was so charming.
7. It was SO beautiful! Oh my gosh- I could go on and on about how green it was, and the mountains, and the forests, but you get my point. I have some fantastic pictures to help me remember it. I can't think of a more beautiful place I've seen.
8. Good friends made and good times had. Wonderful neighbors (Alyssa and Petra) and all the Girl's Night Out ladies. How I miss that. I'm so glad to see the tradition carried on.
9. Being forced outside my comfort zone almost everyday. I know- it's a strange thing to miss, but I really grew and learned a lot while I was there. I was pretty humbled every time I had to ask someone to speak to me in English. It was good though. I look back at the whole time now as quite an adventure and life here is rather boring.
10. My bank account. For some reason it's just really fun to be able to say you have a Swiss Bank account.
Ich liebe Schweiz!!!

Justin and I were reminiscing the other day too. We were only in Switzerland for a summer but we really learned and grew while there. It is a wonderful place. I am anxious to go back (without the kids) to do more exploring.
Oh honey. Now I feel like a putz for my sarcastic post :) nah. I miss you and your sweet family. You are like a sister to me. I am so glad we had that year to learn and grow together. You are an amazing woman and I love you so much.
