Kids are the best entertainment!

These are a few of the things that my kids have been up to lately.

Kenzi has to read 20 minutes each night for homework. She asked if it counted if she read / sang for 20 minutes out of the Children's Songbook. Sure, why not? She sings all the time anyway, why not let it count as homework? She just discovered the Mary Kate and Ashley books at the library and LOVES them. She made Joe D photocopy the whole list of books so she could be sure that she could read every one and check them off as she goes. This morning she was so excited because she had had a dream last night that she was a character in one of the books and "it was AWESOME!" She is just such a good kid. She is so helpful and obedient and responsible. Typical first child I think. She loves school and socializing. She is constantly asking for play dates and sleep overs with friends. It freaks me out that she is growing up so much.

Will has informed me that he is "dating" a girl in his class. When I inquired as to whom this was, he could not give me her name. He said he didn't know her name, but he knew she had a crush on him because he heard her tell her friend that she did. And he says he has a crush on the nameless girl too, hence, they are "dating." I love it. He is as girl-crazy as ever. He has adjusted SO well to kindergarten. It's a little bittersweet when your kid hops out of the car and casually says "bye Mom," without a second glance as he walks into his classroom for his first day of kindergarten. I was proud, but a little sentimental. Silly, I know. He is loving the X-Men cartoons and only checks out dinosaur books from our weekly trips to the library. He torments his sisters, just like all brothers do, but more often can be found just playing with them and coming up with the most clever pretend ideas to play with them. While we were in Moab last weekend, he was a Indian chief and had Kenzi and Sadie following his commands. Sadie got it mixed up with a captain and kept saying "aye aye captain Will."

Sadie cracks me up on a regular basis. Driving in the car is always the time when she comes up with her craziest stuff. She recognizes and loves Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift on the radio and knows most of the words to their songs. Scary. She's only three! She recently has asked me to buy her bubble gum (requested multiple times a day), a baby pig and a hot air balloon. She promised she would be good in the store if I got her bubble gum. She promised that the pig could sleep in a cage in her room if we got her one. And she promised that she would not be scared to fly in the hot air balloon if we got her that. I love the innocence in the way she asks for these things, expecially the hot air balloon. She thinks it is a completely reasonable thing to ask for. She is strangely fascinated with Cooper Minis. I don't know why. She just loves them and she can spot them from a mile away. She is so articulate and suprises me all the time by how smart she is. She saw a guy on a motorcycle without a helmet on and said "Mom! He's not smart! He doesn't have a helmet on and he can fall and smash his head on the road and that is not good because Jesus wants is to be good, right Mom?" So funny. I am enjoying her so much right now...that is until the super-tantrum strikes. But for the most part, she is so much fun.
