bits of my life...

Here are a few tidbits of my life recently:

Overheard in the car:
Will- Look at that lellow bus Sadie!
Sadie- Dat bus not lellow Will, dat bus owange.
Will- No Sadie! Buses are lellow.
Sadie- Not lellow Will. Owange!
Will- Lellow!
Sadie- Owange!
Will- Lellow!
Sadie- Owange!
On and on for 5 solid minutes. Some days I might tell them to knock it off, but that day it just seemed humorous and made me smile. But really- which color IS a bus??

Scene yesterday morning in the kitchen:
Me in my robe sprawled on the kitchen floor with a broom in one hand and a flashlight in the other. A monster-sized cockroach has just run beneath my stove (I still get heebie jeebies just thinking about it) and I am determined to kill it immediately. After several swipes with the broom and a few very unadult-like noises from me, Will says "Mom, why are you doing that?" I tell him and he goes" Oh, I'll take care of it. I'll invent a cockroach killer." A minute later he joins me on the floor with a somehow linked chain involving a spatula, wisk and several measuring spoons. Very seriously, "Mom- this is called 16 moderator and it will kill the cockroach." Unforunately, neither 16 moderator or my broom could get at the bugger. 30 minutes later I found it under the table and a shoe worked just fine that time.

Things you'd never expect to hear unless you are a parent:
Joe D: -K- guys, I need you to pick up your toys and take them upstairs.
Kenzi: I'm a cheetah Dad.
Joe D: Okay cheetah, take your toys upstairs please.
Will: I'm a saber tooth lion Dad.
Joe D: Okay saber tooth tiger, get your toys.
Will: Not a tiger Dad! A lion. A saber tooth lion.
Sadie: Me! Me a baby lion.
Will: No Sadie! You are a baby saber tooth lion.
Joe D
: (without skipping a beat) Okay! I need the cheetah, the saber tooth lion and the baby saber tooth lion to pick up their toys and take them upstairs please
And they did!

More tidbits:

In my spare time lately I have been:
-Reading to myself most recently- Beneath a Marble Sky, Breaking Dawn, City of Ember Series, Till We Have Faces.
-To my Kids: The Chocolate Touch, Magic Treehouse series, The Mouse and the Motorcycle.
-Playing solitaire or hearts on the computer while listening to music on Pandora.com
-Making a brag book for my mom's birthday
-Cataloging pictures on my computer and in scrapbooks
-Trying to plan healthier meals for my family (TRYING being the key word there...It's hard!)
-Planning family home evening lessons in advance
-Working on Bev and Tom's backyard (Joe D's brother Brad is having his wedding reception there in 3 weeks so they are fixing it up and need all the help they can get.)
-Trying to come up with creative ways to keep twelve 2 year olds occupied in a 6x12 foot room for 40 minutes. Joe D and I are in the nursery in our ward and it is complete chaos every week. There are 61 (No, that's not a typo) kids in nursery and they have it broken into 4 groups by age. Luckily not all the kids show up every week, but this past Sunday I would bet there were 40 kids there and 10 leaders and 4 or 5 parents too. The play room just doesn't hold that many people so we took our kids to another room and tried to keep them happy.

I'll post my kids goings-on in a day or two. Love ya all!

I loved that. When you know a family as well as I know yours it's easy to hear their little voices... those sweet kiddos.

Sam did great at school today. When he got home he said, "I like the bus better than school. It's bumpy and I get bounced all over the place."

Hope all is well, miss you guys.

Your munchkins are so cute. They are getting so big!! You are so smart to write these fun sayings down. Wow 12- 2 year olds..... thats ruff. I suggest a lot of playdoh and a bucket full of playdoh tools. That kept them busy when I was in nursery. Miss you guys. :)
