This past Saturday I took the kids on a day trip (by myself) to visit my friends while they stayed at the ranch I mentioned a few posts ago for a family reunion. I usually would drive through Zion, but each time it is $25, so I thought "what the heck- I'll drive the long way to save money." Not only did we save money, we also drove mom CRAZY. :) I had some movies on the laptop for the kids to watch, but it died about 5 minutes down the road. So the kids entertained themselves the whole way (2 hours) with screaming, hitting, pinching, spitting, laughing, singing and whatever else they could think of to pass the time. Luckily, at one point on the drive we saw these buffalo. They kids were ECSTATIC. We had just finished reading a Magic Tree House Book about buffalo on the great plains, so they were thrilled to get to see the real thing up close. Of course I stopped the car and got some pictures.

We couldn't believe how big they were, especially this one. And I couldn't help feeling like I was in an old western.

It was a fun little trip. Thanks to BJ for the invite. I love your family.
